Mission

The Mission of Seventh Day Adventist College of Nursing is to nurture and to mould young minds in the healing ministry, where they become responsible, knowledgeable and trained professionals to assist the sick in recovery by promoting preventive and remedial measures for the wholistic living of man. Our example is the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.

Vision

Seventh Day Adventist College of Nursing shall

• Uphold and respect human dignity regardless of any differences, color, race, denominations or culture, in providing compassionate nursing care.
• Maintain integrity and commitment in all relationships and dealings while mentoring the students for the service of mankind.
• Provide excellent scholastic environment, where the trainee can learn through interactions with learned faculty, interactive modules and through information super highway.
• Be a part of the Health care provider to the community and to the country at large.
• Promote universal brotherhood, where one can serve each other with empathy, compassion and scientific knowledge.
• Be an Adventist health care promoter where life is considered as a gift from God and the need to sustain it, in its wholeness through exercise, health food habits and healthy life style with healthy mind.

Objectives

• To provide learner centered education that would foster professional excellence.
• To inculcate practice of holistic and compassionate health care that reflects the healing ministry of Jesus Christ in all settings without discrimination.
• To deliver scientific, high tech, high touch education that requires the development of right knowledge, attitude and skills of nursing.
• To promote training of professionally competent, ethically sound individuals who would adopt Evidence Based Nursing practice.
• To uphold the value of every human being as a creation of God and respect all individuals regardless of caste, religion, race or class.
• To recognize the need for life long learning and develop teaching and management skills.
• To utilize every opportunity for the Physical, Mental and Spiritual development of learners that would exhibit professional excellence.
• The faculty is committed to the development of high quality nurses by serving as role models in implementing the mission philosophy and objectives in practice of nursing.
• The faculty takes responsibility to implement the entire curriculum and develop skills of critical thinking and problem solving among learners.
• The faculty and students would seek to maintain the high standards of discipline at all times and work towards building positive team spirit and collaborate effectively with all the members of health team.

Philosophy

• The Seventh Day Adventist college of Nursing, Ottapalam believes in providing a wholistic health care training through the BSc Nursing Degree program with a highly standardized academic curriculum, augmented with the fundamental principles of Adventist health care system.
• Nursing is an integral part of the health care service and share responsibility in collaborations with other allied health professions for attainment of optimal health for all members of the society without any discrimination.
• Education is a lifelong learning process. It seeks to render quality and acceptable behavioural changes in the students in order to become competent health care professionals, so that they can become socially relevant and individually content.
• The faculty of Nursing is committed to impart quality in teaching, demonstrating, the principles involved in the nursing care executed through the services and exercise while they prepare the academic curriculum and Master plan for the students.
• We believe in Quality, Excellence and serve with compassion as Jesus Christ did.
