Eligibility for admission

  • The applicant should have completed 17 years as of 31st December for the year of admission. The minimum age requirement will strictly be followed.
  • Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education of Kerala or examinations recognized equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in biology separately, and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology put together, are eligible.
  • Candidate should be medically fit.
  • Candidates who have passed the BSc Degree (Three year course) examination with Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany or Biochemistry as main, and any one or two of the above subjects as subsidiaries, with 50% marks for main and subsidiaries taken together, subject to the condition that they have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or examinations recognized as equivalent there to with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects are eligible for admission to BSc Nursing.
  • Fifty percent of seats are allotted for government quota students.
  • Conditions for the management quota are to be fulfilled for admission as specified in the prospectus to professional course of the academic year issued by the Directorate of Medical Education.

Original documents to be produced on the day of admission

  • The allotment memo received online
  • Receipt of fee remitted in the bank.
  • Certificate to prove date of birth.
  • Transfer Certificate (TC) from the institution last attended.
  • Conduct Certificate
  • Mark list of the qualifying examination (Higher Secondary or equivalent) and the pass certificate.
  • Eligibility certificate from any University in Kerala, in case of candidates who have passed a qualifying examination other than Higher Secondary Examination / Vocational Higher Secondary Examination conducted by Government of Kerala or the examination conducted by CBSE / CISCE and / or Degree from other University or boards.
  • Migration Certificate. (if applicable)
  • Physical Fitness Certificate
  • A Certificate showing that the candidate has got himself/herself vaccinated against Hepatitis.
  • Community Certificate (SC / ST, Backward Community)
  • Three passport size and two stamp size colour photographs.

Eligibility for examinations allotment of seats and selection of candidates

The intake capacity to the BSc Nursing is 40 as per University and Indian Nursing Council. The management seats, NRI seats, payment seats etc will be filled as per directions of the Government of Kerala and Kerala University of Health Sciences and the governing body of the institution. The Government seats will be allotted as per the approval of the central and state regulatory bodies, Universities and Government of Kerala. The Management Quota and NRI seats shall be filled in as per the decision of Selection Committee of SDA College of Nursing.

The tuition fees, special fees, University examination fees, fee for recognition of examinations of other Universities, bodies, affiliation fee, clinical affiliation fees payable to government and other institutions, SNA fees, College Union fees, Transportation charges and Medical Check up etc are to be paid separately by the candidates.

Preventive measures against ragging

According to the Kerala Prohibition of Ragging Act, 1998, ‘ragging’ means doing of any act by disorderly conduct to a student of an educational institution, which causes or is likely to cause physical or psychological harm or raising apprehension or shame or embarrassment to that student and includes teasing or abusing or playing practical jokes or causing hurt to such students or asking a student to do any act or to perform something which such student will not ;in the ordinary course be willing to do.

All institutions will have to abide by the directives of the Honorable Supreme Court of India, Dated May 16, 2007 in SLP No. (S) 24295 of 2006 University of Kerala Vs Council, Principal’s Colleges, Kerala & Ors [with SLP© No. 24296-99/2004 & W.P (Crl) No. 173/2006 & SLP © No. 14356/2005] and the recommendations approved by the Honorable Supreme Court of India on effective prevention of ragging in educational institutions.
